Engagement Announcements!

Sam and I finished making our engagement announcements. We screen printed everything and used drafting vellum as an overlay so they are fancy but still homemade with love. Heart.

Here is the front cover:

And here is what the vellum looks like without the blue cardstock underneath:

On the blue paper, underneath the branches, there are little silver birds flying away:

The inside text:

And the back cover is more branches:

The colors are a little distorted on the computer screen, but you get the idea. Lovely, hand-crafted engagement/wedding announcements for the modern couple who like birds in trees and want the whole world to know.

Chalkboard Art!

A restaurant hired me a couple of weeks ago to redesign their chalkboards for their new menu. I've never done chalkboard art before so I thought it would be a walk in the park. Ha! It's a lot trickier than it looks. This girl makes it look easy. Go chalk!

Here's what one of the boards looked like before:

And here's me working on them in my apartment (the board to my right is the old design):

This is the outcome:

And all three of them in the restaurant:

And here's a tropical/patriotic Christmas plant:

New Papercut Comics!

I really have been hard at work finishing my mini-thesis from last spring. Now it's done! I've added four more stories, plus and introduction and epilogue so it really feels complete now. Oh papercut comics, you slice my fingers and my soul. Here's the first couple of stories. More to come!

Fall/Autumn in Vermont

So I'm in the swing of things for my second year at comics school and still planning on graduating with my MFA in the spring time. But for now it's getting cold and the trees are nearly empty.

I'm busy working on the rest of my papercut stories from my mini-thesis last spring. I should be posting four more stories real soon, save any disasters holding me up. My goal is to have the book finished by Thanksgiving and then it's on to the next project.

In the meantime, we've been busy with visitors, which means Ben and Jerry's and Boston Freedom Trail tours. That's right. The revolution is upon us.

Dream Comic

Here's an assignment we did a couple weeks ago about dreams. I think I've been reading too many westerns. The week after we did this I had a dream I robbed a bank naked. Maybe that would've made a better comic?

Meanwhile, I'm busy making pages to add to my mini-thesis from last year. I'm hoping to be done before Thanksgiving. And the trees here are on fire. x
